Practicum at Edmonton Public Schools Communications Department

I had an opportunity to do my practicum at the Edmonton Public Schools Communications Department in my last year of university. It was great to be in a professional environment and have professional designers' help during my training there.

Design Project | International Week Poster 2007

This is one of my client projects I did in the last year of university. We had a great opportunity to work with the University of Alberta's International Centre who, needed a designed poster that gets the message across. The message for 2007 was, "Beyond Terror: The Real Weapons of Mass Destruction". As the client requested, the message could not be represented with horrifying and desperate images, but rather represent hope and strength. The idea behind my final concept is a representation of human being as a "key" to hope, solution and our own future.

Design Project | Conference Package "Ghibli Fanimation"

I am a big fan of animation shows and movies. I grew up with both Disney and Studio Ghibli movies. For this conference package design project, we were assigned to organize an imaginary conference. The conference I came up with was "Ghibli Fanimation", a conference where target audience of younger children―approximately from 8 to 15―can enjoy the world of animation(anime) by learning the history of animation and how it is done.

Design Project | Children's booklet

I decided to work on an educational children's booklet of HIV/AIDS for my final project. It was also because I wanted use illustrations to deliver a simple and an easy-to-understand information booklet.

Photography Project | Poem

My another photography project I did at the University of Alberta. We were given a few poems to work with, and come up with a concept to deliver a photograph sequence. These photos represent one of the poems. Unfortunately, I don't remember which poem it was, nor the author of it...But I hope everyone would enjoy these photographs. (The photo shoot was done at 4:00 am for the second picture)

Photography Project | First kiss, Rain, and Wind

This is one of my photography projects. We were given a few words to convey through photography and "first kiss", "rain" and "wind" were the ones I chose. We were not allowed to literally capture these words in photographs, but come up with a concept that delivers the idea.

"First Kiss"

"Rain" (Two versions)

"Wind"

Photography Design Project | "Details Men's Salon

A group project I worked on for my photography class. The project objective was to deliver photographs that are appropriate for certain business advertisements. My group was assigned to work on "a recently opened Men's salon Details". Based on the information of this non-existing salon, our final execution was to deliver the "gentleman-ness" of men. Instead of using just men as a subject, we focused on using a loving couple to emphasize the kind and gentle attitude of men in an elegant circumstance. Each group member delivered one shot and this is the one I shot (total of 5 final deliveries) .
